Poppies fluttering in the breeze, lit by the early morning sun. Tall grasses glowing in the golden light. White capped mountains in the distance, ancient olive groves hinting at the history of the countryside. Can be rather easy to wax poetic when rambling along the Camino Frances. …

Stayed in Viana rather than continuing on to Logroño. No real reason other than 18km was enough for today. Was pretty neat to wander, seeing the town’s connection to the Borgia family and the ruins of a 13th century church. Sad yet fascinating to see was what looked like bullet holes in the church walls. WWII maybe? …

Had a bit of a scare – giant dog rushing towards me and kept sniffing me and wouldn’t go away. Probably because it couldn’t understand “go away” – probably should learn that in Spanish. Eventually saw owners in distance looking amused. Called them a few choice names in my head.
