A glimpse into the journal I kept for all 38 days on the Camino Frances, including up to 10 photos (not necessarily the best pictures but more that they represent that day in some particular way). Today is day 9 – April 29th. Los Arcos to Viana
Saw a vending machine in the albergue this morning that had anything you could need – snacks, drinks, cream, toothpaste, blister care, condoms, etc. Very thorough. …
Poppies fluttering in the breeze, lit by the early morning sun. Tall grasses glowing in the golden light. White capped mountains in the distance, ancient olive groves hinting at the history of the countryside. Can be rather easy to wax poetic when rambling along the Camino Frances. …
Stayed in Viana rather than continuing on to Logroño. No real reason other than 18km was enough for today. Was pretty neat to wander, seeing the town’s connection to the Borgia family and the ruins of a 13th century church. Sad yet fascinating to see was what looked like bullet holes in the church walls. WWII maybe? …
Had a bit of a scare – giant dog rushing towards me and kept sniffing me and wouldn’t go away. Probably because it couldn’t understand “go away” – probably should learn that in Spanish. Eventually saw owners in distance looking amused. Called them a few choice names in my head.
Maybe it’s just that we’re still not into full spring mode here but I’m just astounded by how beautiful and green everything looked. I could fall to my knees and weep, that panorama is so perfect looking!
I hate bad dog owners so. much. It would be highly amusing to learn ‘go away’ in twenty languages or something, useful too, I’m sure!
Thanks 🙂 Walking through it really made me so happy!
haha yep, I should learn the phrase in multiple owners – be good for both animals and humans!
My oh my!!! The pictures totally blew me away. It’s so pretty!!! 🙂
Thank you! The Spanish countryside in the spring is gorgeous!
What a wonderful images – the golden grasses are truly stunning! Thank you for sharing this beauty 🙂
Thanks, Indah! The early morning light was definitely the reward to starting the day’s walk early!
